What does a Personalized online coaching plan look like?

Based on your current fitness and driven toward your goal race, a TeamWRK running Coach will curate a day to day individualized training plan through the V.O2 Training App. Every run and workout is fully explained. Your training program is updated weekly or bi-weekly and adapts to your progress. We work around your schedule and are able to make any adjustments regularly. Below is a sample week for an athlete:

Do you work with athletes of all abilities?

Yes! TeamWRK trains a wide range of athletes from novice/beginners who have not run a mile since their high school fitness test to Boston Qualifying participants and everyone in between. Although some members of the team may run similar paces, be prepared to run many miles on your own, even during team group runs and especially during long runs. Similar to race day, although you will start with other people around you, there is potential that you will spend some time on the course by yourself. Don’t worry though, someone will be there waiting for you at the finish of the run.

Do I need to be part of a specific running club to train with you?

Yes and no: TeamWRK is recognized as an Affiliated Club at NYRR, NYCRUNS, USATF and most race event organizations. We strongly encourage you to register to represent TeamWRK. If you prefer to only work with Coach Joe or Jenn Shayne, please indicate that during intake conversation.

I have a challenging schedule, can you help me?

Yes! TeamWRK’s athletes lead big and busy lives and our Coaching Staff is well-aware of what that fact. As a Performance Team Member, your workouts are individually tailored for you, so you can perform your sessions in-person or on your own.

I am not sure what my time goal is yet, is it okay?

Yes! Your initial time-trial will give us an insight as to your general current fitness. As you progress through the training program, we will figure out a predicted race pace and provide a detailed race strategy based on your progress. You focus on your running and fitness, and Coach will help guide you to a time goal that makes sense.

Training for a Specific Marathon or Half Marathon

Sessions:

TeamWRK participates at all 6 of the World Majors and at the marquis NYRR Half Marathon races. In the Spring: The UA NYC Half in March and the RBC Brooklyn Half in May. We offer 16 week, 20 week and 24 week programs to give our athletes the right amount of time to prepare themselves within a controlled, supportive and encouraging atmosphere. This is a hands-on program offering 5 in-person training sessions including a session dedicated solely to drills to enhance your form. This program is designed to provide a comprehensive training environment, as we offer built-in accountability and help you channel your inner champion as our athletes train towards a Marathon or a Half Marathon with the intention of harnessing peak performance. We strive to see each other win and winning is infectious!

What if I can’t attend any of the training sessions?

We recommend signing up for one of the TeamWRK Performance Team Packaged Plans anyways or you can register for month-to-month Online Coaching, but you’ll be paying a little more, and stay connected virtually. We offer the same program with the sole exception of hands-on training sessions. Our virtual training program and our online community is strong and empowering offering daily group communication in addition to the personal communications from Coach.

Why is the price for TeamWRK Personalized Online Coaching and the All-Access packaged plans the same?

The Personalized Online Coaching plan requires the coach to follow up much more often with our virtual participants than when athletes are in-person, thus, spending a significant amount of time and resources on checking-in and following up. In our experience, the additional time and resources spent individually following up with our online members offsets

The TeamWRK Training Schedule operates in mini-cycles within the program.

The 24 week plan offers a base training block, a comprehensive 16 week training block composed of four 4-week mini-cycles culminating in a fast strong goal paced race, as well as a 4 week post race recovery block.

The 20 week plan offers a base training block, a comprehensive 16 week training block composed of four 4-week mini-cycles culminating in a fast strong goal paced race.

The 16 week plan is designed for athletes ready to jump right into training that already has a solid 4 week base of running under the belt. The training plan is designed to develop stability, speed, strength and power and will be tailored to progress with you specifically on a week-by-week or bi-weekly-by-bi-weekly basis.

As coaches, we invest time in your athletic development and as community leaders, we show up and expect that you will be at sessions when possible and will be a team player, volunteering as “Cheer Squad” when available. We expect honest efforts, consistency, and an encouraging demeanor. As TeamWRK Coaches, we go above and beyond to ensure your training experience enables you to succeed. We provide all resources available and encourage you to learn to “Train Hard and Love It” so when it becomes race day, you take on the “Plan A Crush Everything” mindset channeling your inner champion.

Communication is the cornerstone for a healthy coach-athlete relationship and for your long-term success, therefore we as coaches make ourselves available throughout the week for all of our athletes. Athletes are responsible for scheduling one-on-one check-ins, although, at times, coaches will request a check-in as well.

Feedback helps us become Coaches, Community Leaders, Athletes and people. We routinely seek honest and fair feedback to enhance our training program and continue to build a nurturing and safe environment for our member athletes.
